Kuzma Claims Championship At Southern National!!!

After a 10 week season at Southern National New Jersey driver Charlie Kuzma was the man on top of the points standings and claimed his first ever SFRL Championship. Kuzma burst onto the scene last season in front of the Track Championship series at Langley winning all races he entered, only a hardware issue prevented him from a clean sweep. This season he got redemption and while his performance was not quite as dominating he was clearly the class of the field earning 6 race wins. While it might seem Kuzma made it look easy that was not quite the story. The Southern National track opened up the series to much more frequent passing opportunities and more side by side racing which gave drivers a much better chance to reel in the leaders and not become bottled up in traffic. Secondly this season we instituted field inversion which caused the previous weeks winner to start tail on the field regardless of his qualifying effort. Those items alone made Kumza have to work a bit harder to make it to the front of the pack.

While Kuzma and his #113 team scored the lions share of wins it must be noted that TJ Christ, Clifton Cockrell, Jay Harned and Eric Nordhoff all found Victory Lane this season while series regulars Darryl Tiezzi, Michael Allen and Mark Koschik all turned in great performances throughout the season.

The SFRL Friday Night Modified Series will be taking the Holidays off before kicking off the new season in early January. More details will follow shortly so please stay tuned.
