Cockrell Tames The Lady!!!!!!

The “Lady in Black”, “The track too tough to tame”. All monikers for Darlington Speedway. The home for this week’s Vaseline 125. And it was all of those thing indeed! There wouldn’t be a clean untouched car left after this grueling 125 lap race. The trick here, is to race the track. Not the other cars. And 1 driver did that better than anyone. Clifton Cockrell picked up his 2nd career win with a dominating performance. Cockrell would lead 98 of the 125 laps.

After qualifying, Cockrell would claim the pole with a time of 27.929. Mark Koschik would serve notice, and claim the outside pole with a time of 28.006. For the most part, the race was uneventful minus all cars getting initiated into “The Darlington Stripe” club. Surprisingly though, there was just 1 caution for 4 laps to slow the field.

WINNER: Clifton Cockrell

2nd: Mark Koschik

3rd: Paul “Buzz” Cohen

4th: Terry Walters

5th: Darryl Tiezzi

Congratulations to Cliff and see you all at Kentucky Speedway Banjo Pluck’n and Nose Pick’n your way into the stands!!
