Kuzma Continues To Show The Way!!!

Hello race fans, the Sure Fire Racing League SK Modified Series kicked off week 5 of the Langley Track Championship with 13 cars in the pits and ready to take on this tough bullring on a cool night in Virginia. Charlie Kuzma had his #113 on top of the speed sheet at the end of Happy Hour with a time of 14.537 while Texan Clifton Cockrell found some magic in his set up and posted the second fastest lap at 14.607 in his #29 machine.

Qualifying saw a repeat of last week as Kuzma and Darryl Tiezzi again locked up the front row with times of 14.574 and 14.617 to set the pace.

On the drop of the green flag Kuzma got the jump and grabbed the top spot and Tiezzi droppd in line behind him. The #404 of John Gablinske had engine issues and started the race from pit road he joined the fray but was clipped by the #22 of Eric Nordhoff while running 3rd. Nordhoff took a wild ride that ended with his machine rubber side up and to the pits for extended repairs.

The Lap 8 restart would see Kuzma again assume command of the field but TJ Christ was able to power under Tiezzi and put his #55 into the runner up position. Michael Allen and Jason Harned would round out the top 5. Behind them there were battles all over the track but everyone used good judgment and kept the yellow flag out of the starters hand.

The race took on a new life on lap 82 with Kuzma working traffic he came upon the battle between Tiezzi and Harned in which neither driver was anxious to give away a position. To make life more interesting the #804 machine of Russell Duquette pitted for fresh tires and came off of pit road right in front of Kuzma. It took several laps for Kuzma to find a way past Duquette and even after doing so he continued to be pinned behind the battle for 5th and Duquette still had plans to regain his lap by passing Kuzma. As the battle raged on Kuzma took to the apron in several attempts to get around the #44 of Harned but the defending series champion was having none of it and held his ground. In his mirror Kuzma could see the #29 of Cockrell edging closer to join this battle but more than that the 2nd place machine of Christ was edging closer and the laps were winding down.

Finally on lap 101 Kuzma got a good enough launch off the apron and was able to dive under Harned and clear him and open the gap to Christ. On lap 108 Gablinske made contact with Cockrell and the #404 ended on his roof however the flag man decided to keep the field under green and from there Kuzma was free and clear to the checkered flag.

1. #113 Charlie Kuzma

2. #55 TJ Christ

3. #59 Michael Allen

4. #44 Jay Harned

5. #29 Clifton Cockrell

Next week will be race #6 of the Langley Track Championship
