Kuzma Dominates Week 3!!!!!!

After missing last week's event with technical issues Charlie Kuzma returned to Langley Speedway Friday night with one objective, to dominate the nights events. Mission accomplished.

Kuzma was on top of the practice sheet very early on and only kept setting the bar higher as the session wore on. At the end of Happy Hour he had settled on a quick time of 14.608 while Darryl Tiezzi making his first start of the season had his #16 flying with a lap of 14.696.

Qualifying was no surprise to see Kuzma put his #113 on pole with a lap of 14.615 however the outside of the front row was taken by Canadian driver Mike Journeaux with a time of 14.670.

As the green flag dropped over the field of 14 drivers Kuzma quickly assumed the point and TJ Christ stayed on his bumper to move into second. Off of turn 2 Journeaux pushed out of the groove and brushed the wall causing his #73 to lose momentum allowing the #22 of Eric Nordhoff, the #59 of Michael Allen and the defending series champion Jay Harned in his #44 to slip past before stopping the bleeding and settling into 6th place.

Christ continued to keep and eye on Kuzma but was not able to get close enough to make a pass as they began to encountered traffic quickly on the small .40 mile oval. On lap 23 the only caution of the night would occur as Journeaux got on the throttle a bit too quickly while under pressure from Tiezzi and looped his car off of turn 4 and came to rest at the start finish line. He was able to re fire the engine and rejoined the field. The early yellow had drivers unsure of what strategy to employ and only Christ chose to peel his #55 out of 2nd place to hit pit road for new shoes.

The lap 29 restart would again see Kuzma step away from the field as Nordhoff brushed the wall after starting on the outside of row 1 allowing Allen, Harned, Tiezzi and Christ with his fresh tires to slip past. At this point Allen in his #59 was as close as any lead lap car would get to Kuzma for the rest of the night as he simply drove away from the rest of the field. Christ would take advantage of the newer tires and work his way through the top 5 with Nordhoff allowing him to open doors to follow through. On lap 122 Nordhoff was able to pressure Christ just enough to take the 2nd position but the story of the night was Kuzma leading wire to wire to take his 2nd victory of the season.

Again I want to thank all drivers for your input and support of this series. I hope to see everyone at Langley for week #4 next Friday night.

Race you there!
