Mike Allen Takes The Lanier National 100!

After a 2 week holiday break Sure Fire Racing League (SFRL) returned to action for the first time in 2016 at the .375 mile bullring in Braselton, Ga. 9 drivers signed into the pits for the Lanier National 100 in front of a packed grandstand.

Points leader Andre Beaudoin laid down fast time in Happy Hour with a blistering lap of 12.852 to set the target to shoot for in the qualifying session to follow. Late arrival to the show Dennis Brasfield in the #38 snagged the pole for this event sneaking under the 13 second barrier with a time of 12.945 while TJ Christ put his #55 on the front row with a 13.029 lap.

Brasfield led the field to the green flag but it did not take long for trouble to strike as contact between Dave Biro III and Eric Nordhoff sent the #5 spinning into the outside wall ending his night. The green flag dropped but was short lived as contact between Thomas Christ and Shane Gross slowed the field for the second time in 11 laps.

After a quick clean up the green flag was in the air once again and the field settled in for a green flag run until lap #48 when the 3rd yellow of the night fell bringing the bulk of the field to pit road for fresh rubber and adjustments.

Close racing at the front of the field had the crowd on their feet as Jay Harned, Beaudoin, Michael Allen, and Brasfield all locked into a battle for the top spot. Allen was able to open the gap and looked well on his way to victory when the 4th and final caution slowed the field with 7 laps to go. Conversation between drivers and crew chiefs was fast and furious as last minute strategy was hashed out.

The green flag fell with 3 laps to go and Michael Allen, the South Boston Va pilot was able to hold off the field and put his familiar #59 in Victory Lane. #31 Andre Beaudoin came home 2nd with Jason Harned bringing his #44 home 3rd. Coming out of turn 4 Dennis Brasfield gave the crowd a smoke screen as he looped his #38 but was able to recover for a hard fought 4th place while TJ Christ was able to salvage a top 5 run.

Next week SFRL heads to Thompson Speedway. Gates open for practice at 8pm with racing at 9:05

Congrats to Michael Allen for his win in the Lanier National 100.
