Brasfield Wins At South Boston As Carson Poe Impresses!!!

The Sure Fire Racing League (SFRL) found its way to the South Boston Speedway for 100 laps of true short track racing. A total of 10 drivers were there to battle it out for the Winner’s Circle spot, and it was the #38 of Dennis Brasfield with a time of 16.627 who took fast time AND drove his machine into the Winner’s Circle. Making his debut with the Saturday Night Showdown series, was young Carson Poe, who challenged Brasfield for his fast time. Carson, gridded his #13 machine as the 2nd fastest qualifier with a time of 16.647.

The night of racing started out with a 4 lap shootout of the four fastest qualifiers for the Trophy Dash. The checkered flag flew in the air for the #38 of Dennis Brasfield. Two 10-lap heat races followed with the first heat being won by the #071 of Dean Viney. The second heat race win was brought home by the #46 of Jim Whaley Jr.

After the popcorn was gotten, the overly inflated prices were paid for the hotdogs, hamburgers and beer, fans settled in their seats for what was one of the best nights of racing for the Sure Fire Racing League. 100 laps of caution free racing! It was the #04 of Tim Kelleher and Heat 1 winner, #071 of Dean Viney who brought the pack of drivers to the green flag. Viney led the Sure Fire drivers for 35 laps before the #55 of Thomas Christ took over with a pass on the outside. Christ led the next 44 laps, lapping cars and looking for the win.

Christ, feeling the pressure from the #38 of Brasfield, slightly overdrove his car coming out of Turn 4, wiggled slightly enough that he had to get out of the gas, and that was all the opening that Brasfield needed to make the pass and take the lead for the final 25 laps.

Congratulations to Dennis Brasfield on his win at South Boston, along with a solid 2nd place finish going to the #55 of Thomas Christ. Jim Whaley Jr. brings home a 3rd place finish, Dean Viney finishes 4th and Mark McFadden brings it home rounding out the top 5.

Make sure to keep your eyes on rookie driver, Carson Poe, as this young driver made his debut with Sure Fire this week. This young driver had 2nd fast time and placed 6th in this feature race, staying on the lead lap.

Come watch the action at the Stafford Motor Speedway as Sure Fire invades Stafford Springs, CT. next Saturday night.
