Sykes Debuts and Wins Santa’s Sleigh Ride 100 At Charlotte!!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this write-up for the Santa’s Sleigh Ride 100 at Charlotte, is a week late, but better late than never so here it is…

Since the re-opening of Sure Fire, the checkered flags have gone home with more new league drivers than they have with league veterans. Charlotte was no different, as it was the #905 of Craig Sykes, making his debut with the league. Apologies for not having this write-up a week ago go out to you Craig and a well-deserved congrats as well.

It was #8 Josh Lambert who took the pole with a fast time of 27.292. Lambert led the opening laps of this caution free race, but was not able to hold off the #905 of Craig Sykes. Lambert wasn’t done with Sykes as they battled for position for a few laps, but it was Craig Sykes who prevailed in this battle.

There was some good racing all throughout the night, but in the end, it was Craig Sykes who dominated the night, winning the Santa’s Sleigh Ride 100, leading 67 of the 100 laps. It was the #38 of Dennis “DJ” Brasfield who brought it in for 2nd place and the #55 Thomas “TJ” Christ finished in 3rd. Making his league debut, rookie Vernon Margheim came in 4th and Jim Whaley Jr. in the #46 rounded out the top 5.

Sure Fire Racing League returns this Sunday, January 3, for its first race as a new league, under revised management and for the first race of the 2016 season. Come join us at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the New Year’s Hangover From Hell 125.
