Smith Tells Everyone We're Baaaaaaaacck!!!!!

The Friday Night Thunder Series started with a great race in the World Series of Asphalt 100 in the Tour Modified’s. Last season’s feature winners Heath Smith and Ty Spearman started 1 and 2 on the front row. The green flag waved for 14 mod’s but did not take long to bring out caution 1.

Lap 2 sees the 17 of Austin Green not clear of the 18 of Joe Marks as he drifted to the outside wall but was not quite clear spinning them both on the backstretch. Green flag waves as Heath Smith resumes the lead until lap 23 when caution 2 comes out.

The 56 of Mike Whited was really loos out of turn two and hit the outside wall rolling his car down the backstretch. Mike was taken to the infield care center to check for injuries. He was checked and released. Green flag in the air as Heath resumes the lead again till lap 35 when caution 3 waves.

The 71 of Monty Selsor in a close race battle for position with the 17 of Austin Green as he goes around out of turn four. Green flag and Heath again takes the lead until lap 47 when the 4th and final caution waves.

The 17 of Austin Green thinks he deserved some payback as he spins the 71 of Monty Selsor out of turn four.

Long green to the end as Heath Smith takes the first win of the 2015 Season 2 Friday Night Thunder Series World Series of Asphalt 100 at New Smyrna Speedway. TJ Christ took 2nd, Shane Gross took 3rd, Eric Nordhoff crossed the line 4th and Monty Selsor Rounded out the top 5.

Congratulations to Heath Smith on his win at New Smyrna Speedway.
